The last of us almost has own animated TV show, revealing the stars (exclusive)

According to The Last of Us actor Jeffrey Pierce, the PlayStation adaptation could sometimes look very different.

Pierce, who played Tommy Miller in the Last of Us series of games, has seen the team grow firsthand over the past decade and even had the chance to play Perry in the HBO Max series based on the Naughty Dog original currently airing. Game.

But this critically acclaimed TV adaptation was only sometimes planned. The Last of Us was originally adapted into a theatrical blockbuster, with Sam Raimi directing before the project was finally abandoned.

And, as it turns out, the series took another detour on its way to becoming the HBO Max series that is acclaimed today.

  • Animated "The Last of the Survivors" series

Jeffrey Pierce, star of The Direct's Klein Felt, The Last of Us games, and HBO's Last of Us series, revealed in an exclusive interview that the series has almost never been adapted into an animated TV series.

  • Last-survivor, Jeffrey Pierce

Asked if Pierce had any potential hopes of re-playing his video game character Tommy in the HBO Max series, the actor said "no, not in the course of the HBO show."

He did, however, mention that over time, the adaptation had "several different iterations," including "[The Film]" as well as "Motion Capture Film Animation Series:"

Will the animated Last of Us series work?

No one knows exactly what kind of success the animated Last of Us project will have, but in hindsight, living in 2023, it's not hard to imagine that such a project will work.

Other R-rated animated video game adaptations have also been successful in recent years. Works such as Cyberpunk: Edge Runners, Castlevania, and Arcane have all found audiences on Netflix and received near-universal acclaim.

If The Last of Us starts making a TV series now, it wouldn't be surprising that it went the animation route.

However, the title does feel like a gritty HBO series. So to see it staged on a reality TV network, it's hard to imagine it going on any other way.

The adaptation of Our Last Survivor, which audiences are currently receptive to, is a bumpy road, but it does feel like the right choice was made to get here.
