Scarlett Johansson has opened up about some of her early roles
In a conversation on Tuesday's "Table for Two" podcast, Johnson described how she felt while filming the 2003 films "Lost in Tokyo" and "The Girl with the Pearl Earring" when she was a teenager.
"It's kind of like my transition to a new career," Johnson said, adding that she "had a really hard time doing 'Lost in Tokyo.' ”
She explained: "I became kind of naïve, kind of, I just thought it was part of it – young girls like that were really objectified and that's the truth. I filmed Lost in Tokyo and Girl with Pearl Earrings, and I was 18, 19 years old, and I was entering my own feminine age and learning what my charm was. ”
"I think it's because of the trajectory I'm pushed towards, I'm really stuck," she said. "In a way, I'm kind of being groomed to be what you call a blockbuster actor."
Johnson said her agent, Brian Ludd, helped her turn things around.
"In that situation, it's easy to sit across from someone and say, 'This works, why change it?' The actress said about changing her career with Lourd. "But for that bombshell, you know, it burns very fast and then it's over, and you don't have a chance."
