The studio head mocked the "big" plan for the DC Batman reboot

 James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, hinted that the rebooted Batman will be the foundation for the upcoming reimagined DC Universe (DCU).

Just as James Gunn and his partner Peter Safran look forward to the future of Warner Bros. Super powerful franchise, change is the key word today.

Gunn recently revealed a new "DC slate [is] ready to go; However, this was also accompanied by the news that Henry Cavill had officially been replaced as the team's Superman.

But when it comes to Batman and Gunn and Project Safran, things get confusing. The duo reportedly wanted to incorporate Matt Reeves' Batman universe into the DCU, but Gunn shut it down soon after it went viral.

Now, Peacemaker director and new studio head have hinted at his plans for Gotham Bat in DC Studios.

Another Batman Reboot Incoming

If the newly appointed DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn is to be believed, the rebooted Batman will play a "big role" in the next era of DCU.

Responding to a fan on Twitter asking if "Batman will be an important part of the DCU," Gunn simply said, "He's an important part of the DCU." ”

Given that the head of DC Studios recently confirmed that Matt Reeves' Batman universe won't be integrated into the new DCU, this is likely to mean Warner Bros. The Superpowered Universe will have a new, rebooted version of the Black Knight.

Similarly, Gunn also noted on Twitter that the next evolution of the series will "[focus on] the most well-known" and "at the same time lesser-known characters:"

What is Gunn's "big" Batman plan?

So what do these "big" plans for the Black Knights actually bring to Gunn and Safran's new vision for DCU? Of course, for the New Dawn, it makes sense that the team's two heroes (Batman and Superman) became integral parts of it early.

But it does a good job of overturning any theories some people may hold about Gunn and co. Wait for the Batman trilogy to end before introducing their own Bruce Wayne to the DCU.

Just like Superman, Batman looks set to be the cornerstone of this new era of DC screen storytelling.

Gunn himself noted that former DCEU Batman actor Ben Affleck has been in talks to direct an upcoming DC movie. So, can he be the one who brings the new image of Gotham and the Bat to life?

Long before Matt Reeves and Robert Pattison starred in "Batman", Affleck was ready to star in and direct a separate Batman movie. If the Justice League star were to talk about a directorial role at Gunn's DC studios, perhaps he would finally realize that his Batman vision might come true.

For now, though, all fans can do is wait, as Gunn has made it clear that viewers won't officially see the new DCU program for the first time until early 2023.
