Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan sell their San Francisco home for $31 million

A spokesperson confirmed that Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan sold one of their properties in San Francisco for an over-the-counter sale price of $31 million

According to Zillow, the deal is the most expensive in San Francisco so far this year. Built in 1928 with four bedrooms and four bathrooms, the 7,386-square-foot residence is located on the edge of the city's Mission District and Dolores Heights neighborhoods. The deal closed on July 1, but the transaction records have just been made public.

According to PropertyShark's records, the 38-year-old Facebook--Meta co-founder and his wife, 37, purchased the house in 2012 for less than $10 million through SFRP, a California-based LLC. Na'eem Salaam, vice president of operations at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, signed the gift deed between the buyer and seller on behalf of SFRP.

Although a representative of the group confirmed the deal, Mr. Zuckerberg and Ms. Chen could not be reached for comment.

PropertyShark records show that the buyer was a Delaware LLC

Mansion Global was unable to further identify the buyer, but Michael M. Gordon, a director at the law firm Gordon, Fournaris and Mammarella in Wilmington, was listed as a contact for the LLC. He did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the couple bought the home 10 years ago at a size of about 1,800 square feet smaller and may have sold for a record high in the Mission District at a time when San Francisco was showing early signs of a tech takeover.

According to its website, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative was founded in 2015 to "help solve some of society's toughest challenges — from eradicating disease and improving education to meeting the needs of local communities." Ms. Chen and Mr. Zuckerberg are co-founders and serve as co-CEOs
