Vineeth Sreenivasan's role in "Mukundan Unni Associates" is probably Mollywood's most deceptive character in recent times.
The narcissism and gray shades on him are so amazing that it makes him stand out, especially in an industry with several iconic villains, such as Shami played by Farhad Fasir in Nights in Kumba Ranji and the titular character in Georgie.
Since the film received its OTT release, some film buffs have been commenting that Vineeth's Mukundan Unni is a strange but extended version of Sreenivasan's character in the 1988 film "Mukunthetta Sumitra Vilikkunnu." The film, directed by Priyadarshan, revolves around two friends, Mukundan (Mohanlal), who wants to live a decent life, and Viswanath (Sreenivasan), who survives as a con artist.
While we believe that the climax of the two films bears no resemblance (as Wiswanath's actions in "Mukunthetta Sumitra Vilikkunnu" are punished), the similarities cannot be ignored either.
