The New The Nature of Things co-host has a strong relationship with North Ontario

Anthony Morgan is a name that many Canadians will be more familiar with. He is one of the new co-hosts of CBC's The Nature of Things and has strong ties to Northern Ontario. The project is a collaboration between Laurentian and Sudbury-based Science North to teach students how to spread scientific knowledge to a wide audience

"They teach you how to do things like a few things, from creating briefings for policymakers to editing videos, to live engagement at science centers or anything related to science communication," Morgan said.

Chantal Barriault, the show's co-director, said it was clear Morgan was destined for a career in television. She remembers taking students on field trips to the set of the former Discovery Channel show, Daily Planet.

Morgan said he doesn't remember being so brave, but felt right.

Anthony Morgan has organized science events for years – including the Discovery Channel, CBC and Wise – and is the creative director of Science Everywhere, a science education startup and media company. I heard that The Nature of Things will co-host it's "the most amazing thing in the world." (Jimmy Zheng)

He founded Science Everywhere, a media startup focused on science education and finding common ground. He also launched a live event series in Toronto called Freestyle Social, which aims to break down barriers to scientific communication. Morgan continues this journey and seeks a PhD. with work on how people can better converse about science and therefore depolarize.

That would be the nature of Anthony's thing.

David Pearson, who is also co-director of Laurentian's science communication program, said he believes Morgan will succeed longtime host David Suzuki. The nature of things will be different, and that will be the nature of Anthony's things," Pearson said.

Morgan will host the show alongside Suzuki's daughter, Sarika Cullis-Suzuki, who has a Ph.D. in biology and has previously hosted several episodes of the show. Morgan will host his first episode in February and will begin full co-hosting duties in the fall.
